The Advanced Search allows you to search beyond simple Keywords, allowing you to refine your search by Primary and Secondary Subject Categories, Image Orientation, Photographer, or some combination of these.
To perform an Advanced Search, click on the 'Advanced Search' button on the left hand side of the Home Page. You will be taken to the Advanced Search page.
Here you may select more specific criteria for your image needs.
You may search images by any one of twelve distinct primary categories, ranging from "Academics" to “Events” to “Student Life”.
Many “Primary” image categories (Academics, Alumni, Arts, etc) also have “Secondary” categories for further refining your searches (eg – Arts/Dance, or Arts/Music).
Or you may have a specific need for a vertical image, and therefore eliminate perusing any horizontals by restricting your search to Vertical images only.
Or you may desire an image in a specific Photographer’s style, in which case you could limit search results to only those images by the photographer whose name you have checked off in the little tic box.
You may get as specific as you desire – only searching horizontal images that are categorized as Arts/Music photographed by Les Todd, for example.
Once your search results appear, you may view larger previews of specific images by clicking on the thumbnail image. You may further define your selections by adding specific images to your “My Favorites” for later consideration, or to your “My Cart” for immediate purchase, by clicking on those fields beneath the image(s) of your choice.
Note: you must be Signed-in (Duke Users) or Registered (Non-Duke Users) to add images to your My Favorites or My Cart, and make purchases. You do not need to be signed-in, however, in order to simply peruse our Stock image library, but you will be asked to sign-in if you attempt to add images to My Favorites or My Cart.
