Chris Hildreth is director of Duke Photography and an active photographer.
His work has appeared in U.S. News & World Report, USA Today, TIME Magazine,
Smithsonian, Discovery, and the New York Times.
In addition to his work on campus, he has photographed expeditions
to the jungles of Indonesia, the plains of Madagascar,
and the summit of Kilimanjaro. In 1994,
Hildreth received one of the highest honors given
to photographers working in academic arena when he was named
National Photographer of the Year by the Council for Advancement
and Support of Education (CASE). Before coming to Duke,
he was director of photography at Cornell University and
photography manager at University of South Carolina.
